Iceland Volcano shows God's Control

How ironic that the continent of Europe is "suddenly" being held hostage by the hand of the God that they largely have come to ignore. To many on this continent, God either doesn't exist or is not to be worshipped.
Wherever we now cast our gaze around the globe, we are met with the spectacle of individuals and whole cultures set spiritually ablaze, and eager to spread the flame to others. The Old World is different: though Christian belief remains strong in some European countries, like Poland, and Islam is a potent force among Muslims across the Continent, contemporary Europe is the closest thing to a godless civilization the world has ever known. How many are stuck in airports right now reading books about the silliness of believeing in God? How many are unable to do what they want to do or go where they want to go because God's natural creation (a volcano) in a matter of days imposes itself on their daily routines, and brings their "freedom" to a halt? Perhaps it is instructive to see in the Biblical book of Job where the title character was being questioned by God regarding his smallness in comparison to the God who created such things as a mere volcano:

Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind: “Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorant words? Brace yourself like a man, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them. “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much. Who determined its dimensions and stretched out the surveying line? What supports its foundations, and who laid its cornerstone as the morning stars sang together and all the angels* shouted for joy? “Who kept the sea inside its boundaries as it burst from the womb, and as I clothed it with clouds and wrapped it in thick darkness? For I locked it behind barred gates, limiting its shores. I said, ‘This far and no farther will you come. Here your proud waves must stop!’ (Job 39:2-11 NLT)

One can certainly see the Lord asking such questions to the current people of Europe (and also others around the world). The same questions written thousands of years ago but still applicable today. How could such questions possibly apply to the people of 2010? Who knew? But of course, this God does not exist...at least not to many now stuck in airports throughout Europe. The irony would be amusing of it weren't even more sad. We are seeing the large earthquakes, tsunamis and now volcanoes and yet we are simulteanously living in a more and more godless world of human behavior.

People of Europe; people of the world...God is real. He shows himself real each and every day in small ways and in large ways. Humble yourselves before Him. To put it in the language of today: God has a weakness for you. He loves you and wants you to be with Him. Admit your need for Him and He will welcome you back with open arms. Here's how the Bible puts it: The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. (2 Peter 3:9-10 NLT)

Yes..God is the Creator of all Life

For the LORD is God, and he created the heavens and earth and put everything in place. He made the world to be lived in, not to be a place of empty chaos. “I am the LORD,” he says, “and there is no other. (Isaiah 45:18 NLT)
I wanted to post the above scripture because it is a simple and direct rebuke from God of those who hold to the belief that the world was not created by an “intelligent designer” (man’s phrase not mine). Our esteemed schools insist on vehement denouncement of anyone who would dare to suggest that creationism be taught because there is no "proof". The sun hanging above their heads everyday providing light so all can see apparently is not enough "proof".

I for one have taught my children that God is the creator and sustainer of all life…period. The above scripture is plain speaking and unambiguous. If one wishes to argue this point, they will not be arguing with me but the God of all creation. The God who created them. The God who allows them to wake up every morning. The God who gives them the air that they breathe. The God who gives them ability to move their limbs. The God who provides for the food they eat. And the God who protects them each and every minute of every day from the Devil who is trying to destroy them all the time. Oh I know that most who scoff at this position also claim that they don’t believe in a Devil either. However he knows who they are and he and his millions of satanic messengers are always trying to destroy our lives…but for the grace and protection of the living God.

On this last point, I believe the following scripture written by the Apostle Paul is most fitting (2nd Peter 3:1-10 NLT):

This is my second letter to you, dear friends, and in both of them I have tried to stimulate your wholesome thinking and refresh your memory. I want you to remember what the holy prophets said long ago and what our Lord and Savior commanded through your apostles.

Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.

They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed. But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.

A God who sends people to Hell?
